"Thank you, sir. I comprehend."

A couple of drawings today, laptop is still out of commission but I've hooked the scanner up to the net-book, no cleanup on this tiny screen.

The second image is just for fun It might go along with last week ;)

The first one is relevant to a news article I was reading, Google Voice Search a way to control the android phone with speech recognition, has been around for a while, hell I even had it on my G1 (Cyanogen ROM). Now that Siri for the iPhone has come out all polished and shiny and cool looking, Google are going to have to step up their game a little... I've read a few places that Googles answer to Siri is called Majel and it'll only be incorporated into voice searches at first. Now, the reason its called Majel? Well nothings confirmed but I'd like to think it's a nice homage to Majel Barrett-Roddenberry. The voice of Enterprises Computer in star trek, and I think it's brilliant so you get this nice doodle.

Zombie Survival

Laptop's still out of commission, it will be 'til after Christmas. Here's an image of a pet project that's rattling around my brain it's a secret for now though ;_;

I had to draw this whilst under attack from the new kitten, she's all teeth and claws. If it moves she kills it, if it doesn't, she kills it.

If I survive the next mauling I'll post some pictures/drawings. I'm hoping the laptop is up and running again soon I could do with getting back to Photoshop.

How I Create 2

Ok first off I missed last weeks post. So let me explain Uni work is taking a lot of my time along with trying to find a paying job so there might be a interruption in my posting over the next few weeks.
So this is the second post on how I go about creating stuff.
So when I start drawing I normally let my mind wonder and do doodles on the paper on the paper most of these would be basic stick men in different poses.

from after doing that for a while creating quite a few of these drawings I then move onto making one as a toon in the drawing adding more and more detail to them. Till I'm happy enough to try and create a full image. The top image is a good example of this strange process that I do as all the lines are still visible on it. So that is it for this week hoping to get some more stuff done and upload it on here, till then have a nice weekend.

From the Vault

Again we become brave to dive into the vault that is my pc folders to find old sample of work that were done in the past.
So my brain has been running low on creativty this week not the funnest of things to have go on. I thought I would put this up as it is one of the more interesting ones that I have done. I have tried a few things in photoshop to this but they never really work as it already look fine as it is just being shaded in with pencil. Yea not much to say about this is was done a few years back now.

Hopefully I have more of a creative week after I figure out where my brain ran off to..... too many dark places for it to hide...... well hope you have a good weekend and yea we'll see if I have that creative spark back.

Alchemy it's like... alchemy, for alchemists?

I play D&D on Monday, and this Monday I started a new campaign as my first ever alchemist. Normally a little eccentric alchemists tend to  create potions and bombs, always tinkering with new formulas, my characters mind has maybe deteriorated more than most and after a few too many bad ones his common sense could be better, but don't get me wrong, the mans still a genius.

Now back on track, I couldn't help but sketch him, I even ended up inventing a wee gizmo for him, it keeps track of the daily formulas. The first Image, is a really quick colouring just so that I could jot down what's in my head. The second image was drawn earlier today at work, the glass vials he has are bombs, he mixes them and throws them to do damage and the third image, that's just a doodad.

Ahoy! I see land! Of course you do, it's below us...

Yeah you get to see the messy pencils
So Sue's already told you it's theme week, and this time I get to draw something flight(y?) here's a quick sketch of an airship, my friends moving down to Manchester and had a leaving do, strangely exactly when I'd planned to clean this up. It's another one on my to-do list, I'll upload some other sketches I have, there were a few designs, I was playing with a wee fleet of airships.

I'll  probably do another version just to sort out some of the lines that don't quite fit and maybe some perspective fixes.

I think this would be a fun place to explore, a floating city of civilian airships.

Good luck and catch me next time.

Edit: Apparently I'd set this for tomorrow so here's the update.

Red Monkey

Well this was created from a jokie thing I did on facebook or Bebo one of the two. Where for your update thing I just went and put in Red Monkey and this is what it looks like to me. I had a couple of friends then go naming other animals in different colours along with it. But the best one was that I got a reply back from Sue saying her orange penguin killed the red monkey. So now I am wanting to see that fight.

Sue Scribbles With Pencils

Out of all traditional art materials, I have always found pencils the easiest to use. Mostly because there has always been some lying around. It is very easy to pick up a pencil and sketch something on a piece of paper. And anyone can do it, you don't need to read through tutorials or how-to guides. Anyone can pick up a pencil and draw. I think that's why I like it so much, because pencils are very accessible, and cheap. And they can help create the most wonderful pieces.

This Lhasa Lapso dog is a sketch of something which was my first commission. A colleague from my work asked me to draw a Lhasa Lapso for her mother's birthday, as they were her favourite dog. I did paint the dog in watercolour, and they got a printed version of this sketch. I personally like that you can see the pencil lines, but that is maybe just down to taste.

This horse, is another pencil creation. She has been dubbed Tegan, after a horse I used to look after when I was younger. I always wanted a horse to myself, and I used to spend a lot of my free time drawing horses. Drawing horses is an art form all on it's own, and I believe it is because they are so beautiful and majestic.

I feel too many artists dismiss pencils as a child's way of making art, and that saddens me. Just because you used them as a child, doesn't mean that they are for children. Pencils are the one medium you can carry with you anywhere. They add texture and shade instantly. I used any form of coloured pencil, and even have a batch from the local 99p store. I don't believe that it is the tool that makes the artist, it is the technique used by the artist who creates art. You can buy the most expensive products you can, doesn't mean you can be a successful artist.

And with that, I bid you farewell. So see you next week. xo
